In this article we are going to discuss about best ways or methods to increase the
internet speed and how it is done. You may come across many junk articles on
how to boost your internet speed by some crap softwares and spams.
But technically there are only some few methods to improve your browsing speed.
Before going to the post we will see what is DNS and internet.
How Internet and DNS works
After taking a browser and you enter any website like google.com your request is
redirected to your ISP’s(Internet Service Provider’s) default Domain DNS, also
called Domain Name Server. This DNS is accessed by all the Internet user of that
particular ISP.After getting request of google.com the DNS server process your
request and redirects to www.google.com original address (IP Address) i.e. 173.194.36.32
and then you can open the Google website. Sometimes too many request’s at a time can
often make DNS server take lot of time to process your request. This issue can affect your internet speed.
DNS is like a address book which converts hostnames into IP to locate that particular website or service.
Each website has its own IP address.
·First Tweak: On how to Increase internet speed
Using google public DNS to increase the speed of the internet.
Using Google public DNS will improve the browser’s response time either.
Google public DNS is free and best alternate to your current DNS and it is a
part of google’s project for better internet speed. To activate this you must change
TCP/IP from your adapter settings.
- For this you take your control panel.
- Then click on ‘Network and Internet’ and take ‘Network and Sharing
Center’ and then select the Change adapter settings, if you have Windows
7 or Vista. - If you are a Windows XP user still then, you need to go to ‘Control
Panel’ and then ‘Network and Internet Connections’ or ‘Network
Connections’ as shown in the picture in order to see your Network
adaptors. - If you are using wireless net work just open the ‘wireless network
connection status’ and take properties then click on TCP/IPV4. - Apply the following DNS servers for TCP/IPV4.
Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4
For TCP/IPV6 set 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844
Major benefits are faster browsing, spam filtering,no loading error due to DNS.
